Status
Complete Streets is a transportation infrastructure approach that designs streets for all users, not just cars. The MobilityWorks 2.0 program continues JTA’s implementation of Complete Streets across the region.
The University Boulevard Complete Streets project consists of pedestrian safety and aesthetic improvements, including milling and resurfacing of the corridor with reduced travel lane widths, construction of 6-foot buffered bike lanes, midblock crossings, reconfiguration of the Burdette Road/Lake Lucina Drive intersection, high-emphasis crosswalks, access management with installation of median separator turn lanes where left-turn movements are not compromised and JEA utility work.
Phase 1 of the project is approximately 0.4 miles along University Boulevard (Blvd) from Arlington Expressway to Arlington Road in Duval County, Florida.
Phase 2 of the project will be from Arlington Road to the existing University Blvd and Merrill Road roundabout. Phase 2 of the project is a City of Jacksonville (COJ) funded project with an undetermined start date that may but is not necessarily guaranteed to be included in the scope of the consultant’s agreement via addendum.
The University Boulevard (Arlington Road to Arlington Expressway) project was included in FY 24 procurement.
